Sacred Geometry, Metatron & the Merkabah: Why You See Shapes, Colours and Light During Reiki

What Is Sacred Geometry, and Why Does It Appear During Healing?

Sacred geometry is the language through which energy becomes form. Every structure in the natural world, from the spiral of a shell to the hexagonal cells of a honeycomb, from the branching of a river delta to the formation of snowflakes, follows precise geometric principles. These are not coincidences. They are the signature of an intelligent, creative universe expressing itself through mathematical beauty.

When we enter a deeply relaxed, receptive state, as we do during Reiki, the ordinary analytical mind quiets enough for us to perceive these underlying patterns. The visual noise of everyday thinking settles, and what remains is something closer to pure awareness. In that space, the geometry of your own energy field becomes visible.

Triangles. Spirals. Stars. Interlocking circles. Pulsing grids of light. These are not products of an overactive imagination. They are glimpses of the actual architecture of your own consciousness.

The deeper you go into a Reiki session, the more likely these visions become. And the more you understand what you are seeing, the more you can work consciously with what arises, turning a passive experience into an active healing.

The Colours and What They Are Telling You

Alongside shapes, colour is one of the most common and significant experiences people report during Reiki. A wash of deep violet. A pulse of emerald, green. A golden warmth that seems to pour from somewhere above. Flashes of electric blue. A soft, enveloping rose.

These colours are not decorative. They carry specific frequencies, and those frequencies correspond directly to the energy centres, or chakras, of your body.

When violet or indigo appears, your third eye and crown chakra are active. Your intuitive faculty is opening. You are receiving from higher dimensions of consciousness.

When emerald, green floods your vision, your heart chakra is being touched. Something is opening, softening or healing in the emotional centre of your being.

When golden light appears, particularly when it seems to pour downward from above, this is often experienced as Source energy, divine intelligence, making itself felt in your field.

Blue speaks to your throat chakra, to truth, expression and the things that need to be voiced.

Orange and red bring the energy of the sacral and root chakras, creativity, vitality, groundedness, the deep life force that anchors you to the earth.

And white, that pure, brilliant, sometimes blinding white light that some people experience, is the frequency of wholeness itself. Of all colours unified. Of consciousness in its most expansive form.

When you notice colour during a session, rather than watching it passively, try breathing into it. Invite it to move through you. Ask inwardly what it is here to show you. The colours are not happening to you, they are communicating with you.

Light and Movement, When the Vision Comes Alive

Beyond static shapes and colours, many people experience light that moves. Spiralling. Pulsing. Radiating outward from a central point. Cascading downward like a waterfall. Rising upward like smoke.

This movement is significant. Static energy, energy that is stuck, blocked or stagnant, does not move. When you begin to perceive movement in your inner vision during a healing session, you are often witnessing energy that has been freed. Released. Set back into its natural flow.

The spiralling patterns that appear so frequently are particularly meaningful. The spiral is one of the most fundamental forms in nature and in consciousness. It is the shape of galaxies, of DNA, of the growth pattern of plants, of water finding its way downhill. When you see spirals during Reiki, you are often perceiving the natural movement of life force energy, prana, chi, the animating intelligence of the body, as it moves through your field.

Pulsing light often corresponds to the breath and heartbeat of your own energy system. As a Reiki Master practitioner who works with your field, I am essentially restoring the natural rhythm of your energy, and when that rhythm establishes itself, you may see it as pulsation. A gentle, steady beat of light that feels deeply reassuring. Deeply alive.

Pay attention to where in your visual field these lights and movements appear. If light gathers above you, you are often connecting to higher guidance. If it moves upward through your body, energy is rising and opening. If it settles around you like a warm glow, your field is consolidating, integrating what has been received.

Archangel Metatron, The Master of Sacred Geometry

Within the realm of sacred geometry, one presence stands above all others in the angelic tradition: Archangel Metatron.

Metatron is unlike the archangels most people are familiar with. He is associated not with specific human emotions or circumstances but with something more fundamental, the very structure of creation itself. He is the celestial scribe, keeper of the Book of Life, the recording consciousness that holds the blueprint of every soul's journey. And he is the angelic guardian of sacred geometry, the divine architect who works with the mathematical language through which energy becomes matter and matter returns to light.

When you see geometric shapes during a Reiki treatment, particularly when they appear with unusual clarity, precision or repetition, this is often understood as Metatron making his presence known. Not intrusively. Not dramatically. But in the quiet, unmistakable way that sacred geometry always communicates, with a precision that feels too purposeful to be accidental.

His primary symbol is Metatron's Cube, a complex geometric form that contains within it every sacred shape that exists, including the Platonic solids, the Flower of Life and the star tetrahedron. When this form appears in any part of your inner vision, even fragmentarily, it is often experienced as a direct transmission, an upgrading of your energy field's geometric template, a recalibration of the blueprint through which your physical body and your energetic body communicate.

The Merkabah, Your Vehicle of Light

Of all the sacred geometric forms associated with Metatron and with advanced energy healing, the Merkabah is perhaps the most powerful and the most personally relevant.

The word itself is ancient Hebrew, carrying three distinct meanings woven into one: Mer — light. Ka — spirit. Ba — body. Together they describe something extraordinary: a vehicle of light that carries spirit within a body. Your own sacred energy matrix. Your personal geometric field.

The Merkabah takes the form of a star tetrahedron, two pyramids interlocked, one pointing upward toward the heavens and one pointing downward toward the earth. These two pyramids are not static. They spin. The upward-pointing pyramid rotates clockwise, channelling cosmic, masculine energy from Source. The downward-pointing pyramid rotates counterclockwise, drawing up feminine, earthly energy from Gaia. As they spin simultaneously in opposite directions, they generate a sphere of brilliant light that surrounds the body completely.

This spinning geometric field is not metaphorical. It is the actual energetic architecture of a fully activated human energy system, what we might look like to someone who could perceive energy in its entirety. The Merkabah is what your energy field becomes when it is balanced, protected, grounded and connected simultaneously. When heaven and earth are genuinely integrated within you.

The field becomes more coherent. The transmission more precise. The protection more complete. What to Do When the Shapes and Colours Appear

Don't analyse it immediately. The analytical mind will want to immediately explain what it is seeing. Gently set that impulse aside for the duration of the session. There will be time to reflect afterward.

Breathe into it. Whatever you are seeing, let your breath deepen and direct your attention toward it. Imagine breathing the colour or shape into your body. Allow it to move through you rather than simply watching it.

Notice where it is. Is the light above you, suggesting connection to higher guidance? Moving through a particular part of your body, indicating where healing is focused? Pulsing in a steady rhythm, suggesting your energy is finding its natural flow?

Trust what you receive. The shapes and colours that appear during energy healing are not random and they are not products of imagination in the dismissive sense. They are genuine communications from your own field, and often from the larger field of intelligence that Reiki connects you to.

Journal afterward. The visions that arise during Reiki and guided meditation often carry meaning that becomes clearer over time. Writing down what you saw, felt and experienced immediately after a session, before the analytical mind has fully reasserted itself,  captures something that would otherwise be lost.
